Software for measuring point equipment to assess the basic characteristics of railway superstructure

  • Original language description

It is a software to evaluate the basic characteristics of the railway superstructure measured by the wireless measuring point method (functional sample FV_2022_1). These measuring points provide from the acceleration sensor three-channel data sets in binary format. They are stored in an ftp server running on any computer. The software provides basic methods to evaluate the measured signals by the measuring point or other devices. These are basic analyses in time, frequency and time-frequency domains. At the same time, it allows comparison of values within a specified time interval and recognition of trainsets from measured data. In addition, two methods of vibration effects assessment are implemented in the software - according to the Act on the Protection of Public Health and according to the ČSN 730040 Standard for the Loading of Construction Objects by the Technical Seismicity Method. Calculations and analyses can be performed in manual mode and in automatic mode, where the time at which the data are automatically loaded into the system and evaluated according to a simple script with subsequent saving of the results is entered. Note that the software can be used to evaluate data from multiple measurement points.

  • Technical parameters

It is an evaluation software specially designed for the measuring point type device created at the Institute (functional sample FV_2022_1). The software enables means of complex analysis of measured data taken by this device on the railway superstructure and its surroundings. It provides both basic and advanced methods for the evaluation of measured data. At the same time, the software can be supplemented with other necessary evaluation methods in the form of built-in modules. It can be operated in two modes - manual and automatic. The developed program can be run on different operating system platforms and different types of computer hardware, classic PCs, but also on Raspberry Pi, NAS systems, etc. Let us note that the problem focus is directed to the areas of detection of harmful phenomena in the track (deteriorating conditions of the track superstructure due to rail defects, defects in the area of fasteners, sleepers, or the track bed), but also to the area of train set condition assessment.

  • Economical parameters

It is a simple and inexpensive rail-oriented evaluation software and measuring unit developed at the Institute of Railway Structures and Buildings. It provides the capability to evaluate a three-axis vibration acceleration sensor mounted on the railway superstructure to assess the short-term dynamic effects acting on the railway structure from passing trainsets. The software, including the measuring unit, is a very low-cost solution that can be used for measurements in the laboratory and in the field in research and teaching. The author also envisages its use in the teaching of vocational subjects.
