NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF CONCRETE SLAB WITH BASALT FIBRE REINFORCED PLASTIC (BFRP) EXPOSED TO BLAST LOAD

  • Original language description

The paper describes finite element (FEM) analyses of simply supported concrete slabs reinforced by BFRP bars (basalt fibre reinforced polymer) exposed to close range explosions of TNT charges (1 m above the mid span) of two various masses. Data from physical experiments were provided in literature, and are compared with the results of numerical simulations. 3D FEM models have been prepared utilizing Karagozian and Case (K&C) nonlinear material model in order to properly describe concrete behaviour exposed to high velocity pressure waves. Numerical analyses have been conducted in explicit solver, which is suitable when high strain rates are involved. A simplified blast loading method has been used, where the load is applied on the top surface of slab as a time dependent pressure based on empirical equations.
