Mechanical Properties and Structure of Low-Alloy Ultra-High Strength Steels
Original language description
One of the strong directions in the development of commercial steels is the improvement of their strength properties. The aim of this article is the comparison of mechanical properties of the two ultra-high strength low alloy (UHSLA) steels of the Czechprovenience. Moreover, mechanical properties of some commonly used UHSLA steels of the world provenience are also included into the comparative analysis. Ultra high strength steels (yield strength >1400 MPa) are developing more then 40 years already. They can be divided into 4 following categories: low alloy martensitic steels (e.g., AISI 4340, 300M, D-6ac), maraging steels (e.g., AISI C250), high alloy secondary hardened steels (e.g., AISI~HY180, HP9-4-20), precipitation hardening steels (e.g., AISI 15-5PH, PH13-8). Chemical composition of selected UHS steels is given in the table.
