COMPUTATIONALLY EXPERIMENTAL EVALUATION OF STRAIN-HARDNESS REFERENCE CURVES
Original language description
Hardness measurement is a common method of strain inhomogeneity evaluation, applicable regularly as a part of industrial forming processes analysis. The relation between measured hardness and strain is derived from so called strain-hardness reference curves, obtained usually by evaluation of compression tests for given material under relevant thermomechanical conditions. The procedure of reference curves evaluation is traditionally based on mean values of measured hardness and strain, obtained at each llevel of specimen compression. Using a numerical simulation of the compression test, new procedure of strain-hardness curve evaluation is suggested, which is based on direct comparison of local values of strain and hardness. Detailed description of the new procedure and comparison of its results with the traditional method is presented in the paper.
