INFLUENCE OF TEMPERING ON THE PROPERTIES OF ADI AND Si-STEEL
Original language description
The stability of retained austenite in the as-tempered structure of the isothermally heat-treated Si steel, and of several types of low-alloy nodular cast iron. Higher tempering temperatures or, conversely, very low temperatures, were used to see their relationship with the changes of mechanical properties, especially toughness and ductility. Retained austenite can, during tempering and the subsequent cooling, transform to carbide and untempered martensite, bainite and carbide or ferrite and carbide. Thhis transformation of retained austenit is deleterious to toughness and plastic properties
