Optimum Selection of Co-Generation Systems Based on Technical and Economic Analysis
Original language description
This paper deals with an optimum selection of co-generation system based on its utilization. A method for selecting a suitable heat and power system is described in detail. For optimum choice relatively simple models of utility systems are used. Criteriabased on relatively simple applying of thermodynamics provide us with a possibility of an appropriate technical evaluation. An economic evaluation is based on payback, net present value and internal rate of return. Environmental impacts are considered aas an indispensable criterion. The selection of cogeneration system is explained and demonstrated through a case study dealing with design of a new heat and power system in an in industrial company. This selection takes into consideration a minimum impact on environmental an economic factor (acceptable payback) provided a high technical standard has been achieved.
