This report analyses the possibility of the computional modeling of nonlinear elastic orthotropic materials in FEM system ANSYS, which does not have any finite elements dealing with a nonlinear elastic orthotropic material model. The computional analysisof those materials is demonstrated on a segment of an artery. Stiffeners in the axial direction create a composite structure which models orthotropic nonlinear material properties. The axial stiffening is modeled by finite elements, by a modification off the wall structure and by the modification of material properties of the stiffeners. This composite model of the arterial provides an idea about the influence of orthotropic properties on its deformation and stress state. The results show a disagreement with a model using the homogeneous isotropic nonlinear elastic material behaviour. The explanation may be found in an invalidity of the superposition principle under large displacements of the nonlinear elastic material.
