Správná objektivní diagnóza se opírá o spolehlivou měřicí techniku. Proto je zapotřebí také v oboru technické diagnostiky věnovat velkou pozornost použité měřicí technice. Vzájemná vazba mezi měřicí technikou a diagnostikou působí v obou směrech. Stav měřicí techniky ovlivní výslednou diagnózu a jeho periodické sledování je také jednou z forem diagnostiky.
