The paper presents research of CFD simulation and comparison with real solar chimney characteristics. Two types of solar chimney have been built at Department of Thermodynamics and Environmental Engineering of the Brno University of Technology. The maingoal of the experiments and simulations is to investigate the performance of the solar chimney under the climatic conditions of the Czech Republic, and to explore the potential of solar chimneys for ventilation of residential buildings. Both solar chimneys have been tested. Solar chimneys are connected in parallel each to other and placed in one casing. Dimensions of each are: width 750 mm, height 1500 mm and gap 200 mm. One of the chimneys contains a heat storage layer made of concrete to make the airflow rate through the chimney more uniform in time.
