The shape memory alloys (SMA) are very important modern materials. One of the most utilized types of SMA is the NiTi alloy (Nitinol), where the shape memory effect is associated with a transformation between austenitic and twinned martensitic phase. Theaim of this work is the first principles study (ab-initio simulation) of influence of twins in martensite on the elastic constants and the total energy of the studied system. Computed results complement the current state of knowledge
