This work presents an attempt to demonstrate the ability of investment casting technology to be one of the most progressive technologies of manufacturing "net-shape" castings for the third millennium. The main focus in the paper is given to the latest trends in materials and equipment used in all individual phases of the process, i.e. in manufacturing of wax patterns and ceramic shells, de-waxing process, shell heat treatment, metal pouring process and finishing operations.

Technologie vytavitelného modelu má již více jak 5000-letou tradici a minimálně stejně tak dlouhou dobu svého budoucího rozvoje. Předložený příspěvek je zaměřen především na nejnovější trendy v používaných materiálech a zařízeních v jednotlivých fázích technologie přesného lití (zhotovení voskových modelů, skořepinových forem, vytavování vosku, tepelného zpracování skořepin a vlastního odlévání).
