Numerical optimization of properties of solidifying ceramic material EUCOR
Original language description
Corundum-baddeleyit material (CBM) - EUCOR - is a ceramic material, which is heat- and wear-resistant even at extreme temperatures. A numerical model of the solidification and cooling of this material - which was cast into a non-metal form - had been applied. The model is capable of determining the total solidification time of the casting and also the place of the casting which solidifies last. The local solidification time is one of the input parameters for the cooperating model of chemical heterogeneity which is applied next. This second model and its application provide detailed quantitative information on the material structure.
