Creep Properties and Microstructure of P23/P91 Heterogeneous Welds
Original language description
Two designs of P23/P91 heterogeneous welds have been investigated. The filler material in the Weld A corresponded to the P91 steel, while in the Weld B the low alloy filler material of the P23 type was applied. Creep rupture tests have been carried out at 500, 550, 600 degrees C for times to rupture exceeding 50 000 hours. Optical microscopy investigations were performed on ruptured testpieces in order to reveal the effect of testing parameters on the preferred location of failure. Detailed TEM investigations were carried out in the individual weld zones of the selected P23/P91 cross, veld specimens after long-term creep exposure. Experimental data on minor phase evolution were compared to the results of thermodynamic (Thermocalc) and kinetic (Dictra) simulations.
