State of the art in fixed bed combustion experiments
Original language description
For the description of biomass combustion in a fixed bed, it is necessary to measure a large number of properties starting from primitive parameters like dry matter content, heating value, elemental composition and proximate analysis. In addition to that, realistic detailed models require the knowledge e.g. of rates of devolatilization for various species at different operating conditions and numerous other parameters. Detailed measurements of the bed combustion processes need to be performed in dedicated experimental units. In spite of the keen interest biomass fuels receive at the present, there are only few research groups that perform experimental work dedicated to the determination of data necessary for the validation of detailed fixed bed models.Basic tool necessary for the concerned experimental work is a laboratory fixed bed reactor.
