Structural Characterisation of Particles Created in Al-Ni Composites at Moderate Temperatueres
Original language description
Aluminium matrix composites were prepared by HVOF spraying of nickel with 20 wt.% chromium powders onto the aluminium sheet's surface followed by annealing at the temperature 600oC and 630oC. At the interface between the original coating and aluminium matrix the layers containing the Al3Ni2 and Al3Ni intermediate phase compositions were created. Moreover nickel without the assistance of chromium diffuse into the aluminium matrix and causes stenghtening by stable Al3Ni and metastable Al9Ni2 particles. The microstructures were obtained by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Chemical compositions were estimated by energy dispersive microanalysis. The TEM diffraction patterns were evaluated using JEMS software.
