Modeling of reoxidation processes
Original language description
Most of foundry casting defects is formed during casting the metal in moulds as a result of mould and flowing metal interaction. Physical and chemical processes participating in defect formation are investigated but the results are mostly applicable forlimiting the foundry defects under examined conditions only. Generalization and extension of present knowledge about physical and chemical processes running during mould filling with creating a model containing an effect of melt reoxidation would contribute considerably to reduction of occurrence of some types of casting defects. Therefore the realized research was aimed at creating the algorithm resulting from physical and chemical relations describing reoxidation processes during mould filling. And then, based on calculated results, at predicting the defect formation related with reoxidation processes (secondary slag inclusions, gas cavities).
