Compressive Strength of Perfect Cubic Crystals under Transverse Biaxial Stresses
Original language description
Dependence of the uniaxial compressive stress (particularly its maximum value) on the superimposed transverse biaxial stresses is studied for five selected fcc crystals compressed along the 111 direction. Certain attention is paid to their energy profiles and crystal volumes along the studied deformation path. A plane-wave pseudopotential code combined with our own relaxation procedure was used for this purpose. The obtained results confirm the linear dependence of the compressive strength on the transverse stresses, formerly predicted for 100 loading, also for the 111 loading direction.
