Beam design optimization model with FEM based constraints

  • Original language description

The purpose of the paper is to present and solve a specific stochastic program involving differential equation based constraints. The uncertain parameters are modeled by an individual scenario and the aforementioned constraints are originally modeled bydiscretization using a finite element method. Therefore, the derived solvable model is a large scale deterministic program that is solved by the GAMS modeling tool with the CONOPT nonlinear programming solver and results are evaluated and compared.
