Finite element modelling of self-sustained voice production using compressible fluid interacting with vocal fold structure
Original language description
Three-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) model of interaction between the flow-induced self-sustained oscillation of the human vocal folds and the vocal tract acoustics is presented. The vocal tract models of the acoustic spaces for the Czech vowels [a:], [i:] and [u:] were cre-ated by converting the data from the magnetic resonance images (MRI). The FE model includes vocal fold pre-tensioning before phonation, large deformations of the vocal fold tissue, vocal fold contact, fluid-structure interaction, morphing the fluid mesh according to the vocal fold mo-tion by the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) method and unsteady viscous compressible airflow described by the Navier-Stokes equations.
