    Formation and Growth of Eutectic Layers in Nickel Coated Thick Aluminium-based Substrates

  • Original language description

    The contribution is focused on formation and growth of intermetallic and eutectic layers in nickel coated Al and Al-Si alloy systems. The 99.7Ni powder was used to produce the coating, by means of high velocity oxyfuel spraying, onto 5mm thick 99.5Al andAlSi9Cu3 sheets surface. As-sprayed samples were annealed in the range of 660 - 800oC in ambient atmosphere. Based on temperature height was an isothermal dwell set up from several minutes up to hundred hours. Resulting microstructures were investigatedby means of metallography, light and scanning electron microscopy techniques.
