    The Effect of Steel Composition on the Interfacial Heat Transfer Coefficients for the Secondary Cooling Zones in a Continuous Caster

    The numerical models of solidification are used in the process of steel continuous casting. The main effects on the precise function of this model have the following factors: casting speed, type of steel, the nozzles cooling effect etc. The company ArcelorMittal decided to develop its own model which utilizes measured heat transfer coefficients (HTC) for each nozzle configuration and all operating parameters that occur at the caster. Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow Laboratory from the Brno University of Technology developed its own methodology for measurement and software data processing to find out correct value of HTC for each type and position of the nozzles. These data are used as boundary conditions for the ArcelorMittal's model.
