Bulk properties of micro-fine ligneous fillers
Original language description
This paper deals with the technology of ligneous micro-fine fillers for plastics prepared on the basis of natural fibers such as coir and hemp as raw material. These have recorded a boom in demand in recent years. The paper shows the bulk properties of both the raw materials and the milled products and the grinding characteristics of the grinding stock of such materials as well. For the grinding tests, a pilot plant mill of the Attritor type with steel grinding beads and grinding aids were used. The bulk properties of the raw fiber material and the micro-fine filler product were measured on a standard Jenike shear cell. Obtained flow function curves are compared with those of common carbonate filler which is used in the plastics composite industry. Itis stated that ligneous micro-fine fillers for plastics based on natural ligneous fibers can provide polymeric matrix composite materials of very interesting application properties, and the fillers can be prepared in feasible technologica
