Optimization of leveling process by a fast simulation algorithm
Original language description
Optimization of cross-roll leveling of bars is a complicated problem, as the process itself is highly nonlinear and its simulation by standard FE software is limited by high CPU time demands. We present here a proce-dure which is based on Eulerian flow of material through the leveling machine. This strategy results in a very effective algorithm and program based on the Finite Element Method, written in MATLAB. Due to substan-tial shortening of CPU time, iterative repetition of the analysis for variable input parameters is possible and op-timal setting of straightening rollers intermeshing can be found by iterative optimization process.
