    Machine tools and forming machines belong to the product group consuming electric power which the preparatory studies are launched for and the suggestions of selfregulation measures are prepared in order to increase their energy efficiency. In the case that the selfregulation measures are not efficient enough, they can be replaced by the acceptance of the obligatory implementing measures issued by EU. The introduction of such machines on the EU market will require the declaration of conformity with allappropriate legal regulations, which mans also with the regulations related to their energy efficiency. This chapter presents approaches to improving the energy efficiency of machine tools.
