Original language description
Three binary mixtures of elemental metallic powders ? iron/aluminium, iron/copper and iron/nickel were subjected to a microstructural and thermal properties study. The mixtures were deposited on an aluminium substrate using a cold spray technique, whichconsolidates the deposited powder by high impact energy without melting or oxidation of the individual powder particles. The reactions in the deposits were assessed by DSC analysis. Subsequently, the samples have been subjected to microstructural and phase analysis by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X ? ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The results from the microstructure study and DSC observations are evaluated together.
