Experimental statistical evaluation of surface waviness machined using WEDM
Original language description
Wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) is an unconventional machining technology which became essential in many industrial sectors. The long-term trend in increasing the accuracy and quality of a machined surface leads to the necessity of its detailed examination. The typical morphology of an electrical discharge machined surface is characterized by a large number of craters cause by electro-spark discharges produced during the cutting process. The paper is focused on a statistical evaluation of the effect of the machine parameters setting on the profile parameters of surface waviness characterizing the quality of the machine surface. The experiment was made up of 33 variants of the machine parameters setting and the material Ti-6Al-4V with heat treatment was used for samples.
