STEEL IN AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY
Original language description
Steel continues to be the most important construction material for the automotive industry, whereby particularly the share of high-strength steels is constantly increasing. At the same time steel is also in extreme competition with other materials for automotive applications. As manufacturers are required to build light and fuel-efficient vehicles, many new steel grades with optimized combinations of properties have been developed. Multi-phase steels are increasingly being used for car components. These high-strength but easily deformable steels must meet the highest quality requirements to be used in automobiles.
