    Numerical analysis of the influence of thermophysical properties on calculation accuracy of solidification process

  • Original language description

    Solidification and cooling of the gravitationally cast steels (technology A) or continuously cast steels (technology B) rank among the major technological processes. The thermophysical properties of steels dependent on the chemical composition and therefore on temperature have significant influence on the actual casting process, and on the accuracy of its numerical simulation and optimization. A) On a steel sample casting of cylindrical shape that was cast in a metallic or non-metallic cylindrical mould the analysis of influence of the main thermophysical properties of casting steel or moulding material on calculation accuracy of temperature field in the system of casting-mouldenvironment has been performed. As a comparing datum of accuracy the total time of solidification (crystallization) have been selected. The influence of the individual parameters has been analysed separately, the other parameters have been taken for that once in their real value. B) On a steel slab that was continuously cast in the concasting machine (so called the caster) the analysis of influence of the main thermophysical properties of casting steel on calculation accuracy of temperature field in the system of a slab-environment has been performed. As a comparing datum of accuracy the metallurgical length have been selected.
