Design of the twin-disc test rig for the study of wheel squeal noise
Original language description
This paper deals with the design of twin-disc test rig that allows performing experiments under various operating parameters. The test rig consists of a full-scale tram wheel and a disc simulating the rail. The wheel is driven by an electric motor, the disc is driven by traction force in the contact. The angle of attack can be adjusted by rotating the disc around the vertical axis. Loading of contact is realised by a hydraulic system. The measuring system enables the evaluation of adhesion coefficient and slip. This test rig is intended for research into the mechanisms of wheel squeal formation.
