Simulation model concept for the optimization of sorting systems of cross-dock warehouses
Original language description
Cross-dock storage systems are being implemented in modern logistics systems around the world. Autonomous storage systems are especially important for distribution logistics. This article deals with the possibilities of modeling and simulating these systems in a virtual environment. Two basic concepts of the cross-dock system are presented - manual and autonomous, which were modeled in the software environment of the Plant Simulation program. The models are intended for experimental verification of the properties of the presented concepts using computer simulation. At the same time, the advantages and disadvantages of cross-dock systems were presented. Further studies and expansion of the computer model could lead to more efficient cross-dock storage by early detection of bottlenecks and optimization of the right warehouse parameters.
