    Cutting forces analysis when drilling glass fibre reinforced plastics

  • Original language description

    The paper describes the measuring and evaluating of axial cutting force component Fx and torque Mk when drilling a glass fibre reinforced plastic and carbon prepreg. It specifies the constants and exponents for empirical equations for computation of Fx,Mk and tangential component of cutting force Fz. It describes an influence of tool wear on magnitude of Fx, Fz and Mk for drills made from coated high speed steels and coated sintered carbides. The changes of the cutting force and torque values are cyclic in the frame of every revolution of a drill, according to the orientation of reinforcing fibres (these values are lower perpendicularly to fibres axes and higher along to fibres axes).
