Currently used workflow systems are usually divided into three categories: ad-hoc, administrative and production workflow. Classification of these systems can be, however, viewed quite differently: compiled and interpreted systems. This paper shortly explains why use interpreted systems and introduces a general four dimensional model for such systems.
