    The ultrasonic testing is wide-spread nevertheless it has some practical limitations, especially for inhomogeneous materials. Therefore a use of ultrasonic NDT is considerably limited for the civil engineering. The nonlinear ultrasonic spectroscopy is evolved as a new way to improving the NDT and it offer some new possibilities for the NDT in the civil engineering. This paper offers the analysis of principles and limitations of various methods, which use the nonlinear ultrasonic spectroscopy.
