Rapid Development and Implementation of Intelligent Control Algorithms

Result description

Modern adaptive control algorithms have reached such complexity that the use of advanced modelling and simulation tools is necessary for their development. However, the transfer of control algorithms from the simulation environment into an implementationin a PLC can be non-trivial and presents an occasion for introducing bugs in the ported program. This paper presents a development method and a framework for unified development of control algorithms so that the final porting becomes a non-issue. It ta akes advantage of new generation PLCs programmable in ANSI C. This approach is demonstrated on neural-network based control algorithms. The performance of the algorithms in a simulation environment is compared with the real results obtained from their real-time implementations in a PLC.
