The Analogue Filters for Digital Signals

The process of filtering an analog signal removes all frequencies above or below a corner frequency, passing only a band of frequencies, or rejecting a band of frequencies. In the design of analogue filters for the pre-processing of digital signals the filter parameters need to be chosen with respect to the spectral components of the signal being filtered. When digital signals are filtered, however, a totally different set of constraints applies. The paper points out the connection between the choice off cut-off frequency and the shape of the spectrum of processed signal. The design of a new type of filter for data transmission with 4B3T coding is shown. A computer simulation of the chosen filter is performed and the filter spectra prior and subsequentto filtering are compared.

Czech description

Klasické analogové filtry zpravidla nejsou problematické. Jsou obvykle charakterizovány mezním kmitočtem či pásmem propustnosti nebo potlačení. Podstatně jiná je situace při filtraci číslicového signálu, přenášející digitální informaci, který obsahuje značné množství harmonických složek. Při návrhu tohoto filtru je nutné uvažovat spektrum tohoto signálu. Při chybné volbě může dojít ke špatnému zpracování či vyhodnocení tohoto signálu. Je ukázána souvislost mezi volbou mezního kmitočtu a tvarem spektra zzpracovávaného signálu.
