MATLAB Computation of Sound Pressure Level

  • Original language description

This paper presents the Matlab computation of sound pressure level. For the determination of sound pressure level in the MATLAB program the more powerful version was chosen. In the theoretical equation a maximum is found from all spectral lines in each subband, and one pressure level is given by scalefactors. In fact, it means two loops: the first is performing a search through the spectral lines in each subband, the second is just searching through subbands comparing an appropriate pressure level and the maximum from the first loop. In this section of the program, only one loop can be seen. It is just the first step out of two, the second consists in comparing the pressure level at the end of the psychoacoustic model, which has been obtained by calc ulating the SNR (Signal-to-noise ratio). This procedure is more powerful because one loop is spared.
