Efficiency of utilization of these technologies for specific manufacturing companies depends materially on correct selection of the system and correct user adaptation of the purchased technologies. The main problem in CR is that the companies do not haveadequate knowledge of the issue and therefore the conceptual system of selection does not exist here. And this is why the situation of selection is based as follows: The company addresses the supply house with unclear requirements, is unable to be adeq quately depth-oriented and selection of the system is in principle carried out by the addressed supply house which results in the danger that the company introduces an expensive system not quite conforming to its character. Instead of the awaited effect the total costs continue rising materially. Efektivita využití těchto technologií je pro konkrétní výrobní společnosti vysoce závislá na správné volbě systému a správnému uživatelskému přizpůsobení nakoupených technologií. Hlavním problémem v ČR je, že podniky nemají dostatečné znalosti problematiky, a proto u nich neexistuje koncepční systém výběru systému. Z toho pramení situace, kdy situace výběru je postavena následovně: Podnik přichází k dodavatelské firmě s neujasněnými požadavky, nedokáže se v dostatečné hloubce orientovat a výběr systémmuje tak v podstatě veden ze strany oslovené dodavatelské firmy. Tak hrozí nebezpečí, že podnik za velké náklady zavede systém, který není pro jeho charakter zcela vyhovující. Místo očekávaného efektu se celkové náklady dále výrazně zvyšují.Metodika výběru systému PDM by měla být naopak stavěna tak, že celý výběr vede podnik a uzpůsobuje ho přesně svým požadavkům, což je tématem článku.
