This contribution deal with finding the new ways for the laser beam propagation description. This article deals with the calculation of power budget based on the free space optical link. For most usual laser diodes with elliptical beam spots the power equivalent Gaussian beam concept is used. The conditions for the additional gain which increase the total gain of optical receiver are also shown
