    Radiative Heat Transfer in Thermal Plasmas

    Radiation emission and absorption in thermal arc plasmas are important energy transfer processes. Exact calculations, though possible in principle, are usually impossible in practice because of the need to treat a large number of spectral lines and alsothe continuum radiation in the whole spectrum range. So far, we have used an approximate method of partial characteristics to evaluate the radiation intensities, radiation fluxes and the divergence of radiation fluxes for arc plasmas of SF6, PTFE, Ar, H2O, and their mixtures. In this paper, we have extended our calculations to arc plasma of air at the plasma temperatures in the range of 300-35000 K and pressures from 1 to 10 bars. We have calculated the coefficients of absorption for air plasmas at different temperatures, and have used these coefficients to calculate the partial characteristics.
