Why Should Multicast be Used in WSNs
Original language description
Wireless Sensor Networks present a great potential in monitoring system applications. A vast scope of applications take advantage of WSNs and mainly because of majority their own nature, the aggregation of WSN nodes into groups becomes the necessary behaviour. This paper introduces the issue of multicast messages and their impact on WSNs battery resources. It will presents a real implementation used to evaluate the energy consumed by of each node when a multicast or unicast is used. A study of the multicast impact in the neighbourhood is also presented.
