Original language description
The temporomandibular joint is one of the most complicated joints in the human body. Diagnosing its disorder is difficult because the pain is mistakenly taken for toothache, pain in the jaw bones, etc. Examination of the temporomandibular joint is mostlyperformed using magnetic resonance (MR), ultrasound or arthroscopic probe. The paper deals with post-processing of the temporomandibular joint MR image to increase the contrast related to relaxation time T2. Both increasing the contrast and enhancing the arthritic region of sick temporomandibular joint were realized by processing two MR images at different echo-times. MR examination of temporomandibular joint was verified by arthroscopic probe examination.
