In this paper you can find the information about the new generation optical access networks. These networks are known as Passive Optical Network (PON). These networks, which support the next generation of Ethernet/IP based communication, can provide access to more subscribers at higher speeds and over longer fiber lengths. Here are described the basic aspects necessary for proposing the design of these networks.
