The paper describes the exquisite theoretical problems of the quantization of analog to digital conversion. The paper is directed to the total distortion, which is formed of the quantizing and overload distortion. The message signal is passed through a non-linear network, called a compressor. In the paper analysis is assumed segmented A law companding, according to the recommendation ITU G.711. The number of quantization steps is 256. The Gauss noise input signal and A law quantization is selected for quantizing distortion, at this paper, because this case is not usually described. The exponential noise signal and sinusoidal input signal are selected for overload distortion.
