    Properties of a DC Arc Plasma Generator

  • Original language description

    The paper deals with the design and properties of an archeater with intensively blasted electric arc (plasmatron). The arc heater can be used for thermal plasma generation for various technological purposes, namely it was designed for decomposition of ecologically harmful substances. The first section of the paper presents a simplified method of the design of the arc heater with input power up to 75 kW (300 V, 250 A dc) and working medium flow-rate up to 30 g/s. In diagrams, the influence of the sort ofworking gas, of its flow-rate and of the anode channel length on operational characteristics of the arc heater (voltage-current characteristics, efficiency) can be seen. The measurements carried out on the plasmatron are shortly described with respect to their usage in the designed mathematical model of the arc inside the anode channel.
