Real-Time Motion Compensation Using Optical Flow
Original language description
The paper presents novel methods for the preprocessing of video sequences affected by significant global motion. During the examination of a certain region in a video sequence, image stabilization (suppression of the unwanted motion in a video sequence)is often required. In many cases, an unwanted translational motion is present in the video sequence, which complicates its next processing. The paper describes two novel methods for the compensation of such translational motion. The methods have been designed to be capable of real-time processing. Motion analysis is performed on the basis of tracking feature points in a video sequence by optical flow. The vector field achieved is subsequently analyzed by the proposed methods and as a result the global translational motion is computed. Finally, the translational motion is suppressed using a simple geometrical image transformation. The proposed methods of vector field analysis have been designed such that they consider the prior informati
