Algorithm for Modulation Classification of Communication Signals
Original language description
The paper describes a new method for classification of digital modulations. FSK, MSK, BPSK, QPSK and QAM-16 were chosen for recognition as best known digital modulations used in modern communication technologies. The maximum value of the spectral power density of the normalized-centered instantaneous amplitude of the received signal is used for discriminate between frequency modulations (FSK and MSK) and phase modulations (BPSK, QPSK and QAM-16). Then the FSK and MSK modulations were classified by meansof spectrums. The histograms of the instantaneous phase are used for discrimination between BPSK, QPSK and QAM-16 modulations. The method designed was analyzed with signals corrupted by white Gaussian noise.
