Original language description

The article is an introduction to network switch simulation, describing derived virtualization tool, namely User Mode Linux. Article describes how to simulate network switches and switching problematic. The second part of the article compares performances of the VNUML modelized network with three different switches - Cisco Catalyst 2960, HP ProCurve 2626 and Micronet SP608K. The latency and the jitter have been measured following the methodology specified in the standard RFC 2544.
