Active Load for the Testing of Solar Modules
Original language description
This paper describes design and development of the Maximum Power Point Load (MPPL) - a stand-alone MCU controlled module offering all the functionality needed for continuous measurement of photovoltaic module I-V curve, MPP point, open circuit voltage and short circuit current. This module is a part of a complex photovoltaic module efficiency measurement system which is currently being developed by the author. Experimental photovoltaic panel is installed outside the laboratory. Measurement system consists of the solar radiation measurement module (pyranometer), photovoltaic panel load module (MPPL described in this paper) and panel climate measurement module (panel temperature and its distribution, air flow around the panel). Data from measurement modules is being captured via control computer for subsequent analysis of panel efficiency and climatic impacts on it.
