The precise magnetic resonance images of real subjects revealed large variability of the heart position in relation to the ecg lead V2 placed in the 4th intercostal level and considered as an anatomical reference. The use of standard torso model in whichthe heart location is modeled with respect to V2 thus cannot reflect its actual position sufficiently. In this study the method for assessment of vertical heart position in standard torso model, corresponding to the actual heart position in an observedsubject is presented. The location of the initial activity during ventricular depolarization was suggested as the representative of the position of left ventricular septum. Assumption that small activated volume of septum can be represented by one dipolewas used to find the point of initial ventricular depolarization by searching a dipolar generator by an inverse solution from surface ecg potential maps.
