NEGATIVE ELECTRODE OF LITHIUM SECONDARY CELLS

  • Original language description

This study deals with negative carbon materials for lithium-ion accumulators. The main aim is to obtain a good knowledge of carbonaceous materials and to propose possible improvements in the parameters related to the negative electrode accumulators. Carbonaceous materials are used as a substitute for metal lithium in secondary cells, where their intercalation ability is considered. Lithium has a high specific capacity of 3860 Ah.g-1, but it also has many properties unsuitable for use in accumulators, such as low number of cycles, high price, or volatility. Carbonaceous materials have the required properties with the exception of specific capacity around 350 mAh.g-1. Increase in the specific capacity is the main subject of this study.
